well we finally got that statement and turns out mykl is a fucking liar.
i apologize deeply for assuming kate mitchell was a scam artist in my previous posts and using callous language towards her. im glad that this has been resolved, that all accused are cleared, and no players/coaches/analysts appear to have been hurt by any orgs yet. great
still got two points, sorry folks.
1. everyone in this was unprofessional. mykl and kate both gave little to no info yesterday in their individual posts. mykl gave no sources and apparently fucking shoddy info for some sort of dick measuring contest with TheRealLeakBoy. kate just gave a meaningless statement of “mykl is wrong” without any statement about her side of the story. i would’ve preferred a simple “i will give a statement at a later time” instead of that shit.
2. players still need a union. there’s still a scam artist contacting players and masquerading as an org official for toronto. halo is reporting it, and hopefully the person named will face legal action, but without proper protections, this will most likely happen again. it makes me ill thinking about it. blizzard says if players want a union, they will give it to them, but thyre probably fucking lying. i hope that these events will spur the formation of one.
kate mitchell, gm of washington dc, is accused of promising slots to players and most notably harsha, and when those people left their teams and went to dc there was nothing for them, basically fucking them over, especially if they rejected other team offers
this was leaked by mykl (well halo leaked it before but kept it relatively vague), and yes i hate him too, but people like vortex (team canada) heard from multiple owl soruces that it was true and surefour made a thinly veiled tweet about it.
kate semi-confirmed it in a discord post screenshotted against her permission, saying it was due to budget constraints by the org. however in her “official” response to the post she denied it completely, and refused to explain her side of the story. lnl (her last team) players are popping up to defend her but keep in mind, 1. lnl has no org 2. these players want to go to owl so who knows what they really think.
true or not this is a HUGE pr failure for dc. they should’ve made kate tell her side of the story and/or apologize. mykl shouldn’t have made a fucking clickbait video about player exploitation. and if the rumors are true (which seem to be likely), they should’ve never ever promised something like that if they could not keep it.
The problem with huks tweet isn’t ‘wanting Canadians on team Van and team TO is wrong’ it is ’preemptively using diction that specifically assigns blame onto an entire nation (Korea) because they simply have a better pro structure – is born of casual racism and he refuses to see that’.
Literally just say ‘I really wish the two Canadian teams will try out local talent’ or even ‘I am personally rooting for free agents that has to overcome NA’s lackluster talent scouting system to be on the Canadian teams’ and voila! Problem solved jfc
Like it doesn’t matter what the rumours are! Express your disappointment with the lack of care blizzard is putting into t2 and t3 in NA in words that actually places blame onto the system and not in a way that will cause impressionable 13 year olds to rage against Korean players that obviously deserve to be on the big stage just as much as anyone else of the same caliber. Is that like really that difficult?
