Hey, so I’m sure y’all know the deal with Owl City now because Fireflies has become a huge meme. I feel the need to make this post because some nasty haters have popped up about the creator. Here are a few fun facts about Owl City:
– Owl city is not a band. It is one guy named Adam Young creating every song. He occasionally collaborates with singers,but creates all his own music.
– He has released several full length albums and multiple singles. Movies like Wreck it Ralph and the Croods feature original Owl City songs.
– This guy is all about positivity. Most of his music has a bouncy, happy mood to it.
– Puns
– He is a very devout Christian and has many beautiful songs about his faith. Some are covers, some are original.
– Basically the sweetest person alive? He wrote a song for his dad on Father’s Day, has collaborated with a charity to feed the poor (Here’s Hope was written for this) and runs a twitter account of random movie quotes and funny thoughts.
– His music is beautiful and uplifting. He puts so much work into it and overcomes social anxiety to perform it live.
– He has a form of autism and is an insomniac.
– In 2016 he created 12 original albums of instrumental music that focused on different historical events. All of them are available for free download from his website ayoungscores.com. 12 albums for free!

it’s so hard to comprehend the scale of homestuck….. people literally celebrate the anniversary of the day it began like a holiday. it spanned obama’s entire u.s. presidency. it raised a couple million on kickstarter. it crashed several hosting sites. it might as well be it’s own medium. it amassed a major presence on the internet and at cons yet it was never on tv or advertised or anything- just a comic drawn by some dude spreading through word of mouth. people are still reading and talking about it a year after it ended. it’s getting it’s own fucking game. it’s got a soundtrack with hundreds of songs spanning anything from nicolas cage saying “boner” to a goddamn symphony. this was supposed to be short but so was homestuck
imagine we make contact with an alien species that’s like, vastly technologically superior, they could fucking kill us in a single shot if they really wanted to
and this species has never eaten salad before. and we show them salad and they eat it and they’re like holy living fuck this is tasty. and suddenly they’re offering us huge houses with all kind of advanced technological shit and incredible medical care and all the amenities and everything, with the only condition that we keep making salad for them.
and like, salad isn’t even hard to make. grab some plants, dump em in a bowl. it doesn’t have to be fancy salad, they’ll fall all over themselves for the most mediocre salad in the world. we can make so much salad that we’re practically drowning in it, even if we eat some of the salad ourselves. and in exchange we’re protected from danger, we have great living conditions, it’s basically paradise compared to life on earth
