Bees! They’re great. As long as you don’t agitate them, they’re not out to get you. Only 7 species produce the honey humans use but the rest are important pollinators and deserve love too.

Meanwhile, wasps may be assholes but they’re ecologically important assholes. Hoverflies are where I see most people get confused, but they are purely beneficial and harmless. I actually had one hang out with me while I worked on this in the park.

And you should really be respectful to the not honey bees ESPECIALLY! When people say “Save the bees” they mostly mean native bees. Honey bees are technically invasive species, since we imported them here from Europe for the sole purpose of making honey. Bumble bees, carpenter bees, sweat bees, etc. are the ones that are in real danger. They are actually better equipped for pollination than honey bees. For example, bumble bees are able to vibrate when pollinating, which gets more pollen on them, and there are some flowers that rely on this vibration to actually pollinate in the first place! So do your own research on how to save the other type of bees, not just honey bees!
